We are crawling now!

It has been so busy here in the past few weeks that I didn't have a chance to post any updates.
My mom came to spend two weeks with us and brought back our sweet kitty with her. There was an immediate connection between my mom and Shayna. They spent long hours playing together and getting to know each other. And there was a very one-sided connection between Shayna and Kitty. Yes, for Shayna it was love at first sight and she has been chasing him around ever since. How did she chase him around? Well, that's the interesting part. Kitty was the only incentive for Shayna to start crawling. Until now she has only been sitting and despite constant requests and pleads for her to crawl towards us, it was a no go. However, she would do just about anything to get her little hands on Kitty and started crawling towards him. First it was slow and unbalanced, and then she started using her knees and picked up the pace with full force. We were just amazed. Kitty, on the other hand, ran for his life as soon as he saw her approaching him with screams and lots of sudden movements. We tried to show her how to pet him nicely and it worked for a very shot time, and then she grabbed his whiskers and pulled his fur. I think it will take some time for this relationship to become mutual.

Otherwise we see huge progress in many other aspects and we applaud her each time she manages to do something new. Of course she looks at us with a "what's the big deal" expression. The only thing that needs some work is napping. She is not very fond of napping and when she doesn't get enough sleep, she is pretty cranky. She probably wants to make sure she doesn't miss anything good by trying to stay awake.

Oh.... Shayna will be 1 year old next week. Yey! How time flies.
